Allied forces encounter little resistance at Tikrit

Allied forces have moved in to Tikrit, the last stronghold of Saddam Hussein’s regime, military officials said.

US marines encountered little resistance as they moved into the city, 100 miles north of Baghdad, but commanders said it was too early to say the city had fallen.
