'Massive terror facility destroyed' in attack

A “massive terrorist facility” was attacked and destroyed by allied forces in northern Iraq, General Tommy Franks said today.

The coalition war commander said in a briefing at US Central Command in Qatar that the action was taken in the last 48 hours.

“Ground troops, as we speak, are exploiting the results of that strike,” he said.

He added that that coalition forces were “on plan”, saying: “Where we stand today is not only acceptable in my view, it is truly remarkable.”
