Aziz: 'We are ready to fight'

Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz today called a hurriedly arranged press conference in Baghdad to scotch rumours that he had defected or been shot.

Aziz, one of Saddam Hussein’s most prominent spokesmen, told reporters: “I decided to meet you ... to affirm that we are ready to fight.”
