Muslim pilgrims trampled to death
Fourteen Islamic pilgrims have been trampled to death during a ritual in the annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia.
The incident happened when crowds of people threw pebbles at three stone pillars representing the devil's temptations at the Jamarat al-Kubra in Mina.
Some pilgrims fell and were killed by the crush of people around them.
As one group of pilgrims finished their ritual stoning and left the site, they met up with another group, swelling the crowd to dangerous proportions, says Hajj security director Brig. Abdel Aziz bin Mohammed bin Said.
