Man faces terror charge after London mosque raid
One of seven men arrested after a raid on a London mosque was tonight charged with an offence under the Terrorism Act.
Samir Asli, 29, was charged with possessing articles for terrorist purposes following the raid at Finsbury Park Mosque, north London last Monday, Scotland Yard said.
Asli, a North African of St Thomas Road, north London, was charged under section 57 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
He was set to appear at London’s Bow Street Magistrates Court tomorrow.
He was detained after an operation involving 150 police officers at the mosque, where the controversial hook-handed cleric Abu Hamza preaches.
