Rape charges man remanded in custody

A Kent rail worker has appeared in court accused of the kidnap, indecent assault and attempted rape of a 10-year-old girl.

Antoni Adam Imiela, 48, appeared at Maidstone Crown Court for a preliminary hearing.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the same court on February 18.

He last appeared at Greenwich Magistrates Court on December 24 in connection with the charges, which relate to an alleged incident in Birmingham on November 21.

Imiela, of Heathside, Appledore, is also accused of a series of nine rapes of women and girls across the south east of England.

He is also due to appear at Maidstone on those charges on February 18.
