Al-Qaida training camps 'reactivated in Afghanistan'

Al-Qaida training camps are currently active in eastern Afghanistan, a UN report says.

The report says "one of the most recent developments to come to light is the apparent activation of new, albeit simple, training camps in eastern Afghanistan".

A report by an expert panel, led by Briton Michael Chandler, says Osama bin Laden's terror network still enjoys significant support.

The report says al-Qaida has "access to substantial funding from its previously established investments".

The UN experts warn in the report that al-Qaida has the potential to obtain nuclear material and build "some kind of dirty bomb."
