Cloned baby due in January claims doctor

Controversial Italian fertility expert Severino Antinori claimed today that the world’s first cloned baby will be born at the beginning of January.

The gynaecologist said the child was in the 33rd week of pregnancy and weighed 5.5 pounds.

He refused to say where the infant would be born.

Earlier this year, Antinori announced that human cloning programmes were under way in Russia and China.
