Indonesian police today arrested the alleged mastermind of the Bali bombings that killed nearly 200 people the chief of intelligence said.

Imam Samudra, an Afghan-trained militant with alleged links to the Jemaah Islamiyah terror group, allegedly planned the October 12 attack and helped build the bombs that blew up outside the Sari Club and Paddy’s bar on the holiday isle.

He was arrested in the port town of Merak, said AM Hendropriyono, the chief of national intelligence agency.
