Verdict expected today in Dutch killer nurse case
A Dutch court was today delivering its verdict on a nurse accused of killing 13 patients.
Lucy de Berk, 41, is accused of 18 counts of murder and attempted murder in hospitals in The Hague over a five-year period ending in September 2001.
All of her alleged victims, who included a 91-year old judge at the United Nations war crimes tribunal, were either very old or very young and chronically ill.
If De Berk, who denies all the charges, is convicted, it will be the worst serial killer case in Dutch criminal history.
