Hijack suspect held on new charges

Preliminary charges against attempted hijack suspect Kerim Chatty were today extended to include airplane sabotage or airport sabotage, Swedish police said.

Detectives added what they described as “most serious crimes” following new evidence in the investigation.

Officers refused to discuss what the new evidence was but the additions mean that Chatty, if found guilty, could face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.
