Police officer suspended in child porn investigation

A British police officer has been suspended from duty in connection with an investigation into alleged child porn offences, it emerged today.

Officers seized computer equipment in a search of the 29-year-old man’s home in Aberdeen during a probe into indecent images of children, said a Grampian Police spokesman.

The Constable was suspended "pending an investigation into a possible contravention of section 52 of the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982", he said.

He went on: "Officers acting under a warrant have removed items including computer equipment and software from the officer’s Aberdeen home.

"The force is continuing inquiries into the matter and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.

"To avoid possible prejudice to any future proceedings, Grampian Police are unable to comment further."

Section 52 of the UK's Civic Government Act relates to the possession of indecent photographs of children.
