A number of people were hurt today when a coach overturned on the M4, Thames Valley Police said.

No-one was thought to have been killed in the accident on the westbound carriageway between junctions 11 and 12 near Reading, Berkshire, a spokesman said.

Other vehicles were involved in the ‘‘serious’’ accident, which happened at 2.16pm and the carriageway has been closed, the spokesman added.

The coach was believed to be carrying 38 people when it crashed, according to police.

‘‘The coach overturned after being involved in a collision with a car,’’ the spokesman added.

‘‘Emergency services are currently on the scene.

‘‘At this stage no details of injuries are available.’’
