10 die in Indian train crash
At least 10 people died and more than 100 were injured when 13 coaches of an express train derailed in northern India early today.
The Shramjeevi Express went off the tracks near Lucknow, 220 miles east of New Delhi.
The accident occurred when most passengers were sleeping. The injured have been taken to nearby hospitals.
Most casualties were in the four front coaches which overturned after leaving the rails, said Railway Ministry spokesman Devender Singh Sandhu.
One of the two engines hauling the 24-coach train also jumped off the tracks, said Sandhu.
The cause of the accident is not yet known.
