Siblings confess to killing boy, six
The body of a six-year-old boy has been found buried in mud with a puncture wound to the neck, and his brother and sister confessed to his killing, authorities in the US have said.
Jackson Carr’s 15-year-old sister led police to the shallow grave in a wooded area near Lewisville, Texas, yesterday after hours of searching, police said.
She and her 10-year-old brother were being held at a juvenile detention centre on suspicion of murder, but formal charges have not been filed.
Sergeant Richard Douglas said the 10-year-old confessed to holding his brother down during the killing.
The six-year-old’s body was found about 100ft from his family’s home. Police are still investigating the cause of death and motive.
The boy was reported missing on Monday night after his brother told their parents he could not find him after a game of hide-and-seek.
Neighbour Mike Houser said the family had lived in the suburb north of Dallas for about four months.
The children regularly played in the creek bed behind the home, neighbours said. A red tent which the children used as a fort was still standing near the loose red dirt where the body was uncovered.
At the Lewisville school where Jackson was a first year pupil, counsellors were on hand to talk to students.
