British backpacker murdered in Australia
A British backpacker has been robbed and murdered in a small Australian town, police said today.
Caroline Ann Stuttle, 19, from York, England, was found dead under a bridge in the town of Bundaberg, 300 kilometres (186 miles) north of Brisbane, around 10.30pm local time yesterday.
A spokeswoman for Queensland Police said officers believed the teenager had been robbed and then thrown from the high bridge.
Bundaberg is a popular stop off point for Irish and British backpackers travelling Australia’s east coast.
