Israel plans response to bomb attack as death toll rises

Israel’s Defence Minister has met army chiefs this morning to discuss a response to an attack on a hotel banquet hall by a Palestinian suicide bomber that killed 19 people and wounded more than 130.

Israel, which had accepted the latest US truce proposals with some reservations, said it would now reassess its policy following one of the worst Palestinian attacks in the current round of fighting.
