Suicide bomber attacks Israeli checkpoint

A suicide bomber blew himself up at an Israeli military checkpoint in the West Bank today, injuring two people, police said.

One of the wounded was in serious condition.

The attack took place near the Israeli town of Afula where seven passengers were killed two days ago in a suicide attack on a bus.

It was not immediately clear whether the explosives went off prematurely or the checkpoint was the intended target.

Three people died in a similar attack in central Jerusalem yesterday, while seven were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up on a bus in northern Israel on Wednesday.
