More than 40 injured in Kashmir grenade attacks

More than 40 people have been injured in the disputed Indian province of Kashmir after separate grenade attacks at a bus stop and a marketplace.

Four or five grenades were thrown into a busy market in Shopiyan at mid-morning, injuring 25 civilians.

Around five hours later, at least two grenades were thrown at a busy bus stop in Anantnag, injuring 17 people.

Police said they were all civilians except for two paramilitary officers.

Around a dozen paramilitary groups have been fighting against Indian rule in mainly Muslim Kashmir since 1989. An estimated 64,000 people have died in the 13-year-old war.
