Zimbabwe’s opposition leader, Morgan Tsvangirai, has rejected holding talks with President Robert Mugabe, saying the conditions do not exist for meaningful dialogue.

Instead, Mr Tsvangirai’s Movement for Democratic Change has backed trade union calls for a three-day general strike in protest at instability and unrest in the country.
