Saeed appears before a court in Karachi

The chief suspect in the kidnap-slaying of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl appeared in court for a pre-trial hearing.

Ahmed Omar Saeed confessed during a court session last month that he abducted Pearl, but has since withdrawn the statement, which was not made under oath.
