Daniel Pearl kidnap suspects remanded in custody
Three Islamic militants suspected of involvement in the murder of US reporter Daniel Pearl were remanded in custody at a brief court appearance in Pakistan today.
British-born Ahmed Omar Saeed Sheikh, who is accused of masterminding Mr Pearl’s kidnapping, was brought to the courtroom along with two of his alleged accomplices amid heavy security.
The judge agreed to delay the proceedings for a further two weeks to give police time to find Mr Pearl’s body.
The Wall Street Journal reporter was executed by Islamic militants after being abducted in January while researching a story on the alleged shoe-bomber, Richard Reid.
