Fury over auction of twin towers attack recordings
The sale of World Trade Centre memorabilia on the internet, including recordings of emergency service transmissions, is sparking outrage.
Online auction site eBay has hundreds of items on sale from the towers, from tickets to the twin towers' observation deck to dusty boots from a rescue worker.
But outrage has been sparked by compact discs up for auction which claim to contain recordings of police and fire radio transmissions from the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.
The anonymous seller of the CDs says on the website "relive this horrific day in history".
David Rosenzweig, head of the union of police and fire radio operators, said: "I'm appalled that people are looking to make money off of what are known to be some of the last communications that people made.
"My gut reaction is that they are exploiting the situation."
Other memorabilia on sale includes a copy of an old version of Microsoft's Flight Simulator programme which allows players to fly into the twin towers, and a "genuine office key".
And rescue worker Gary Lambert, who has put his dust-covered boots up for sale, said: "I watched people trying to grab pieces of scrap out of ground zero under the fences.
"So I'm actually surprised I haven't had a bigger response."
