Pakistani police have arrested a former English public schoolboy turned Islamic militant in connection with the abduction of a US reporter last month.

27-year-old Ahmad Omar Saeed Sheikh, who attended the London School of Economics, was arrested in Lahore last night.

Police identified Saeed as the prime suspect in the abduction case after arresting three men suspected of sending e-mails announcing the kidnapping.

Daniel Pearl, a reporter for the Wall Street Journal, is still missing after disappearing on January 23rd.

He was on his way to meet a leading Islamic militant in Karachi at the time of his disappearance.
