Sharon meets with Bush on Palestinian conflict

US President George W Bush has insisted that Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat ‘‘must do everything in his power to fight terror’’.

But the president rebuffed a request by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that the US severe ties with Mr Arafat.
