British Defence Secretary, Geoff Hoon, today announced that 17 nations would deploy troops alongside British forces in a 5,000-strong International Security Assistance for Afghanistan.

British Defence Secretary, Geoff Hoon, today announced that 17 nations would deploy troops alongside British forces in a 5,000-strong International Security Assistance for Afghanistan.

Britain, as leader of the force, will be contributing 1,800 troops, in addition to 300 army and RAF personnel repairing and operating Kabul international airport.
