Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has reciprocated a goodwill gesture from Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf by stepping forward to shake his hand at the end of an icy two-day south Asian summit in Nepal.

The handshake helped the seven-nation summit to end on a warm note and raised hopes of a peaceful solution to the latest military stand-off between the two old enemies.
