UN peacekeepers are expected to arrive in Afghanistan later this week, with a team of British soldiers expected in the capital, Kabul, when the new anti-Taliban interim government takes power on Saturday.

UN peacekeepers are expected to arrive in Afghanistan later this week, with a team of British soldiers expected in the capital, Kabul, when the new anti-Taliban interim government takes power on Saturday.

Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy are also expected to contribute soldiers to the mission, as are France and Turkey.

Several other nations have also indicated a willingness to take part.
