French air traffic controllers begin 36-hour strike

Hundreds of flights to and from France were cancelled this morning after the country’s air traffic controllers began a 36-hour strike.

The stoppage was organised to protest against the European Union’s plans to introduce a “single sky” plan to eliminate nationally operated air traffic control.
