Palestinan leader trapped in West Bank tonight
Yasser Arafat is tonight trapped in the West Bank as the Israeli military took the war against terror to the very heart of the Palestinian leadership.
The 73-year-old was bundled into an underground bunker when Israeli helicopter gun ships targeted his Ramallah compound with three missiles. Israeli officials say they want to force Arafat to remain in place to deal with the crisis.
Today Israeli aircraft dropped missiles and bombs on Palestinian security offices across the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Earlier the Palestinian leader issued a statement stating that Israel ‘does not want me to succeed, for this Sharon is escalating his military activities against our people, he does not want a peace process to start’.
In all eight Palestinian security offices were hit, three missiles hit 50 yards from Arafat’s office in his Government compound, two people are confirmed dead and over 120 are injured.
