At least 10 people have died after a dispute over rent led to street clashes in a shanty town on the outskirts of Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, today.

Gangs of youths, allegedly representing landlords, attacked residents in the Kiberia slum after the government said rents should be lowered to ease the economic pressure on the poor.
