Robbers raid Japanese bank but leave cash on train

Robbers raided a Japanese bank of 47 million yen then left it on a train.

The gang of four put the bag of cash in an overhead rack and a suspicious train conductor confiscated it.

They had to leave the bag, containing the equivalent of £268,000, on the train after the raid in Fukuoka.

Police say a woman screamed and demanded staff at the Saga Bank exchange her US dollars into yen. Her three male accomplices reached over the counter and stole the cash.

They jumped on a train and one of them placed the cash on an overhead rack away from where he was sitting.

When a conductor became suspicious, the man said the bag belonged to him, but the operator didn't believe him, police say.

The conductor then contacted West Japan Railway Co. officials by phone and when he returned the man had disappeared reports Mainichi Daily News.
