President George Bush today assured an uneasy nation that the United States would prevail against terrorists and said Americans should not ‘‘give in to exaggerated fears or passing rumours’’.

President George Bush today assured an uneasy nation that the United States would prevail against terrorists and said Americans should not ‘‘give in to exaggerated fears or passing rumours’’.

In a prime-time address in Atlanta, Georgia, he told Americans to turn their fears into action - volunteering in hospitals, schools, homeless shelters and at military facilities, or training for emergency service work and joining a new civil defence force he hoped to build.
