An Mi-8 helicopter of Russia’s air defence force crashed into a radio tower in northern Russia today then burst into flames. Five crew members were believed dead, emergency officials said.

It was unclear why the helicopter crashed into the 900 foot tower in the Leningrad region, but an emergency services spokesman suggested snow and bad weather could have played a role in the accident.
