Two more bodies pulled from Kursk wreckage

Russian investigators have recovered two more bodies from the wreck of the Kursk nuclear submarine, bringing the total number of bodies retrieved from the vessel to 59.

The Kursk’s entire 118-man crew died when the submarine sank to the bottom of the Barents Sea following two large explosions on board on August 12, 2000.

47 bodies have been recovered since the wreckage was towed to dock earlier this month, while another 12 were retrieved by divers who examined the Kursk on the seabed last year.

Since early yesterday, six out of the vessel’s 22 Granit cruise missiles have also been safely removed.
