Fourteen prisoners die in bungled escape bid

Fourteen prisoners died in a fire when an escape bid from a Dubai police station went wrong overnight.

An official in the Gulf Emirate said one man set fire to bedding in a cell to cover his escape attempt but it got out of control killing 14 men, all serving drugs offences, and injuring 15 others.
