Israel’s tourism minister was shot dead today in an ambush at a Jerusalem hotel in what a militant Palestinian group said was its revenge for the killing of their leader by Israel.

The gunmen ambushed Rehavam Zeevi, 75, on the eighth floor of Jerusalem’s Hyatt Hotel and shot him three times at close range in the head and throat, police said.
