War planes focusing on 'missed' targets

US warplanes are now striking the targets in Afghanistan they have so far missed.

The captain of the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier says they have destroyed nearly all the main targets, and forces are now in clean up mode.

He doesn't say how long it is expected to take.

Warplanes have so far been striking weapons storage areas, troops, and air-fields.

A spokesman says extreme lengths are being taken to avoid civilians during bombing runs, and that if a pilot has any doubts about a target he "has the obligation to not drop the bomb".

But a plane has dropped a bomb on a residential neighbourhood over Kabul, intending to hit a military helicopter at the Kabul airport.

The Pentagon says four people were reported killed and eight injured.

Today, US jets have been heard again pounding Kabul's airport, the Taliban military academy and an artillery garrison.
