Japan BSE scare
Japanese authorities have found a second cow suspected of having the debilitating brain-wasting illness known as mad cow disease.
Investigators at a Tokyo testing centre conducted the examination after slaughtering the cow and expected to have the final test results tomorrow, said Mamoru Sato, a Tokyo government official.
Tokyo’s main wholesale meat market today stopped sales of beef and internal organs from about 509 cows butchered over the past two days, Sato said.
