The United Nations has appealed for civilians in Afghanistan to be protected after four of its staff were killed in overnight US attacks on the capital, Kabul.

The United Nations has appealed for civilians in Afghanistan to be protected after four of its staff were killed in overnight US attacks on the capital, Kabul.

A spokeswoman for the UN in Pakistan confirmed that the four Afghans, who worked clearing mines in the war-torn country, were killed instantly when a missile hit their UN building outside Kabul.
