Taliban and Northern Alliance clash near Tajik border

Afghanistan’s opposition Northern Alliance and the country’s Taliban rulers have reportedly clashed near the border with Tajikistan as the alliance attempts to gain territory following daylight attacks by the US today.

Russian border guards said the two sides engaged in battle along the Pyandzh River, which separates Tajikistan from Afghanistan.
