Russian engineers are constructing a pontoon bridge across the Pyandzh River to transport humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.

Afghanistan’s opposition Northern Alliance and the country’s Taliban rulers have reportedly clashed near the border with Tajikistan as the alliance attempts to gain territory following daylight attacks by the US today.
