New security measures for internal flights
Every airline and airport in the world will have to initiate new improved
security measures following the terrorist attacks on the United States on
September 11th.
Officials from 180 countries have agreed to organise funding for the new measures at a conference in Canada. The decision means that security levels on domestic flights will now have to be brought up to international standards.
The International Civil Aviation Organisation will also undertake a review of all air safety regulations.
The measures come as Aer Rianta is being forced to undertake a review of its security procedures after several reports of dangerous weapons being smuggled through airport security emerged
