Taliban leaders flee fearing bloody revenge from victims

Taliban leaders are fleeing Afghanistan, fearing revenge from the public.

It's thought they may fear their brutal regime is about to be toppled.

Many prominent officials of the Islamic regime are crossing the border into Pakistan, including ministers, judges and members of the Taliban militia's religious police.

According to the Far Eastern Economic Review, hard-line religious police are disappearing from the streets of the Afghan capital, Kabul.

It's claimed they fear revenge attacks from civilians they have harassed or beaten over the last five years.

In western Afghanistan, Taliban troops have also begun deserting checkpoints.
