Bush approves £33m aid package for Pakistan

US president George W Bush has authorised $50m (£33m) in assistance to Pakistan, which emerged as a pivotal ally in America’s fight against terrorism.

Bush approved the aid in a memo to Secretary of State Colin Powell.
