UAE cuts Afghan ties

The United Arab Emirates has cut its ties with the Taliban, giving a diplomatic boost to the US.

This means that only two countries now recognise the hard line Islamic militia – Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

And this latest boost for Bush comes after Turkey said earlier today that it would allow the US to use it airspace and airports to launch attacks into Afghanistan.
