Injunction placed on Moors murderer’s book

A temporary injunction has been placed on the publication of a book written by the Moors murderer, Ian Brady.

The book, The Gates of Janus, profiles the minds of serial killers such as Yorkshire Ripper Peter Sutcliffe.

The injunction was won by Ashworth Hospital on Merseyside, where the killer is imprisoned, as officials are concerned it will beach the privacy of patients there.

The book was due to go on sale in Britain in November, but is now on hold.

However, release is to go ahead in the US, where the book is published by Feral House.

Brady’s former solicitor, Benedict Birnberg, says the hospital’s concerns are unjustified and that Brady has every right to publish his book.

Winnie Johnson, mother of one of Brady’s victims Keith Bennett, believes the killer is playing mind games and that the book might contain vital clues as to where her son’s body is buried.
