Cross-Channel refugee row breaks out

Britain has demanded that France close a Red Cross centre for refugees near the French entrance to the Eurotunnel.

More refugees were discovered in the tunnel just north of Calais yesterday.

British Home Secretary Jack Straw is believed to have asked his French counterpart to call for the closure of the camp, which poses a risk of more attempts to enter Britain illegally via the tunnel.

Eurotunnel is also calling for the closure of the camp.

The British Government is currently trying to make the company pay £2,000 for every immigrant that gets through.
