A new opinion poll in Britain has put Ken Clarke ahead of his rival Iain Duncan Smith in the race to become the next leader of the Conservative Party.

A new opinion poll in Britain has put Ken Clarke ahead of his rival Iain Duncan Smith in the race to become the next leader of the Conservative Party.

The survey of 1,200 Conservative councillors gave Mr Clarke a 46% share of the vote, with just 25% supporting Mr Duncan Smith.

A further 29% were undecided. Bookmakers have installed Mr Duncan Smith as the favourite to succeed William Hague at the Tory helm.
