Four people were believed to have died today after a motorway pile-up involving three heavy goods vehicles and five cars.
The crash happened between junctions six and seven of the London-bound carriageway of the M11 in Essex at around 2.15pm.
There are believed to have been four fatalities and fire crews are still at the scene, an Essex Fire Brigade spokesman said.
A spokeswoman for Essex Ambulance Service said the accident happened half a mile from the M25.
Sections of the M11 and M25 were closed.
Junction seven is south of Harlow and junction six links the M11 with the M25.
